Walking past the impressive Delikkemer Roman aqueduct, a masterpiece of ancient engineering, the trail gently leads you through open landscapes towards one of the most important cities of antiquity: Patara.

As the former capital of the Lycian League and the birthplace of Saint Nicholas, Patara holds a unique place in history. Its grand theatre, parliament building, colonnaded streets, and monumental structures tell the story of one of the earliest democratic federations in the ancient world. Arriving on foot allows you to experience Patara not just as a visitor, but as a traveller following in the footsteps of history.

After exploring the ancient city, the day ends at Patara Beach, one of the most extraordinary beaches in the world. Stretching for nearly 18 kilometres, its soft, golden sand is considered among the finest in the Mediterranean. This protected beach is also a vital nesting ground for Caretta caretta sea turtles, adding to its global ecological importance. As the sun sets over the dunes, the light turns the landscape into shades of gold and amber, creating a moment of pure tranquillity. Walking barefoot on the warm sand, listening to the waves, and watching the sun disappear into the horizon is a truly unforgettable Lycian Way experience.

Day 7 Apollonia -Aperlai Walk -9 km, 3,5-4 hours walking time ,300 mt ascent,450 mt descent

This scenic coastal section of the Lycian Way descends gradually from the ancient city of Apollonia, offering sweeping views over the Kekova region. The walk ends at the shoreline, where we meet our boat and continue the journey by sea along the legendary Kekova coast.

After meeting our boat at the shoreline, we continue the journey by sea along the breathtaking Kekova coast. Cruising over the Sunken City of Kekova, you can clearly see ancient stone walls and structures resting beneath the crystal-clear water—silent reminders of a civilisation shaped by earthquakes and time.

Climbing to the hilltop castle rewards you with panoramic views over the turquoise bays and scattered islands. Before leaving, there is time to enjoy local homemade ice cream, made by village families and famous throughout the region.
